Fox News did a great report on newscaster Jonathan Hunt becoming an American citizen. A former Brit, Mr. Hunt had tears in his eyes when he became an American citizen. He said, “Who wouldn’t want to become an American citizen? It’s the greatest country in the world.”
My daughter told me that when she was in high school, nobody stood to say “The Pledge of Allegiance.” The young people sat down and yawned, taking their hard-earned freedoms for granted, but these same young people will certainly notice when their freedoms are taken away.
I’m proud to say that I come from a family of veterans.
My grandfather served in World War One as an airplane mechanic.
My father served in World War Two in air reconnaissance.
My father-in-law served in World War Two in the signal corps.
My paternal uncle served in World War Two in communications.
My maternal uncle served in the Korean War as a cook.
My two cousins served in Vietnam. They weren’t draft dodgers.
Thank you to the men and women in the United States Armed Forces who protect our country and our freedoms. We don’t take you or our freedoms for granted!
